Regenerative Land Use

This focus area deals with adaptation for securing the ecological integrity and resilience of Mediterranean ecosystems. Extensive agriculture that was practiced on the islands through most of history was a result of the constraints put forward by the climate, landscape, and technology. For this reason, it is necessary to modernize the agriculture on the islands, but still maintain its extensive nature. It is also necessary to consider options and best practice relating to adaptation to climate and global changes for this region, both for the sake of people, as well as biodiversity.
