Sustainable Development & Resource Management

This focus area is primarily about contributing to a transformation of the popular narrative that nature and development cannot exist, towards one where they become mutually supportive. Workforce availability is a perpetual problem on the islands. This focus area should also yield improved human and technical capacity on the islands for sustainable development and green energy transition.

There is a need to build capacity and take advantage of opportunities for sustainable development offered by the islands, to support initiative aiming at reducing the pressure on the island resources, and to find ways to reduce threats that result from economic activities on the islands.
